My belly at 10.5 weeks! It has grown since!!!
Life has been ever so busy... and I am ever so exhausted! It has been difficult to find time to post an update, especially when I am falling asleep at 8:00 p.m. every night! I am still at school and have a ton of work to do- so this post will be a quick update! We had our first OB appointment on Monday. Everything went well (except my blood draw... the technician already left so the inexperienced nurse had to take it... it took about 10 minutes as she had a hard time getting my blood to come out!) We had another ultrasound and saw both babies and their heartbeats again. Our doctor did not listen for the heartbeats and said she would next time. James was able to witness his first pap smear! I was due for one and my doctor wanted to make sure I didn't go 2 years without one! It was pretty uncomfortable but I managed through! After the exam, we met in the doctor's office. She reminded me of foods to avoid and basically told me that what I was doing so far was great. She also told us that I need to prepare for a major lifestyle change... at around 24 weeks, I have to really take it easy and limit my activity (I already have!!!). She was pleased to hear that I won't be working this summer- so it will be much easier to take things slow at the pool!!! She gave us a referral for genetic screening testing. The first trimester test has to be done between 11 and 13 weeks. It is an ultrasound and finger prick. While I am still undecided about if I want any screening or testing done (I am definitely not getting 2nd trimester testing done), I went ahead and made the appointment just in case. I am having a hard time with this decision. James doesn't want to have it done, but will support my decision. I keep going back and forth. I've put a call into the doctor to discuss this again. Regardless, my next appointment is on Tuesday, March 31st at 3:15 p.m. After that appointment, she'll see me every 4 weeks until I am 24 weeks. I don't mind going back so often because it means we get to see our babies! Everyone keeps asking me how I am feeling so here it is...
- Besides the fatigue and my clothes not fitting... I feel GREAT! I've been extremely lucky with the lack of major morning sickness. I've heard that for some people, it is awful! I hope and pray everything stays this way! To take care of the clothes situation, I am plannig on going shopping this weekend (again).
- I feel very lucky... not only to be pregnant with twins, but for my husband. James is amazing! I cannot begin to describe everything he is doing to pick up for my slack and more! He is in serious nesting mode and plans to have our entire first floor renovated by the end of the month! I admire his energy and am so thankful for how good I have it! I do feel like a slacker, but he says he doesn't mind. To make up for my lack of doing anything productive, I made cupcakes the other night! I felt successful and they were delicious!
I leave for Vegas for my sister's 40th birthday next Thursday. I am looking for a fun filled weekend and a chance to win some $$$. The following weekend is my friend, Sally's bachelorette party. On Monday, April 3, James and I leave for Texas for the week to visit his family. I am looking forward to all of this fun- but know when it is all over, I am going to be exhausted!
OH... for anyone on facebook... I have not "officially" made my pregnancy public- and don't plan to until I am 13 weeks. Obviously, many people know, but more don't. I have contacts on facebook who are part of my school community. I don't want the kids to know I am pregnant until I am ready to tell them! I appreciate all of the well wishes, but please don't post anything on my wall about being pregnant. If you'd like to make a comment, please send me an email!!! I hardly ever go on facebook, so every time get a message that someone has mentioned the babies- I panic and call my friend (who is always on FB) to erase it for me. She can access facebook from school, but I can't!
Well, that is about all for now! Should anything exciting come up... I'll do my best to post!
Until next time...
