Talk about making a girl's day! I spoke with Joy about 45 minutes ago. I tried to be really patient but only made it until about 2:00 p.m. before I gave in and called the office. She was on the other line but did call me back about 5 minutes later! Joy told me that things are going very well. That alone, made me feel great, but when she told me my Beta Level was at 1,964, I almost passed out from happiness!
I will go back on Wednesday for my third and final round of blood work. If all is well, we will schedule our first ultrasound for the following week (2/9) to find out if we are having one, or two babies.
I once again asked Joy to interpret my levels. She was much more forthcoming today than she was on Friday. I explained the my numbers on Friday made me feel like we were having a singleton pregnancy but that I wasn't sure now with the rise of my levels. She explained that she felt the same way on Friday, but if she had to bet today, she'd lean towards twins. She followed that up by explaining that she could be wrong too! I totally understand and am not betting on anything! I am just happy that we've made it to this point. I am officially 5 weeks pregnant today! Wow- it feels great writing that! I know we have a LONG way to go- but I am going to take the rest of the day to relish in this feeling and I'm sure all the worries will come back tomorrow!
James is super excited. He is not keeping himself as reserved as I am and won't stop telling me that we are having twins. It is wonderful to see him so full of emotion. For the first time in our relationship, I am the one holding back. This is the only way that I can get through this though!
On a side note... I received a few emails about the pregnancy test I took last Tuesday. To clarify- I really did not buy a home pregnancy on Monday as Weis was really out of them and I controlled myself from going somewhere else. However, on Tuesday, on my way back from running an errand, I did stop at a different CVS to purchase a test. At the time, I wasn't sure that I was going to take it... but when I got home, it took me about 5 seconds to make the decision! I don't regret it at all. It was what I needed to get through the week. My guess is that more people going through IVF take home pregnancy tests than those that refrain!
On another side note, my parents came down to visit James and I this weekend. We had a very nice time. James and I have wanted to take them out to dinner for the longest time (since my mom always cooks the most bomb meals for us... every time we visit!) and this weekend was the perfect opportunity. We went to Mealey's in downtown New Market and it was amazing!!! In fact, I wish I could go there right now and order the Seafood Medley again! (I know I have to watch my seafood intake- so unfortunately this is out of the question). After dinner we came home and fell asleep watching one of James' crazy movies (The Happening). Actually, James watched the entire movie, but I was done after I saw a woman stab herself in the neck with a long hairpin. On Sunday, my mom and I played Racko (I won!) while the boys went to Lowes. They left around 2 and it was time for my nap! When I woke up (about 2 hours later), James and I went grocery shopping for the week and then headed to our friends' house for the crazy Superbowl. We had a very nice time!
Well, I guess I should get some work done before heading home for the day. There is a possibility of snow tonight and I can't say that I would mind another snow day. The symptom I feel the most is fatigue. (I am used to my boobs throbbing by now!) I wouldn't mind being able to sleep for a few extra hours (that is, after I wake up in the early morning to pee... another one of my symptoms!). I know this would mean a shorter summer... but I don't mind since I've decided not to take on a scheduled job for this summer (the first time, ever in my life since I've begun working!!!). I will report back on Wednesday with hopefully some more great news!
Until next time...
