All Triggered!

James injected me with my trigger shot about 25 minutes ago. I iced for about 7 minutes ahead of time, and then carefully mixed the medication. While I was getting ready, I could not help but notice James air-injecting out of the corner of my eye. After about the fourth time, I asked him if he could do that somewhere that I could not see him as it was making me nervous. When the medicine was ready he got me into position. He was a very good "doctor" as he walked me through what he was going to do. I asked him if it was a good idea to give me a countdown like he had planned. Because he felt like he should, I agreed. The injecting of the needle didn't bother me at all. As he was injecting I told him that it didn't hurt and he was doing great. We continued to give each other feedback and I think this helped us both through this critical part of the cycle. After we disposed of the needle James gave me a quick massage and I am now sitting with heat on the injection site since I iced ahead of time. I feel a slight soreness but nothing worth complaining about. Tomorrow I am off from all medicine except my prenatal vitamin! I am so looking forward to that!

On a side note... we had a bit of a scare after the injection. James told me that when he drew the needle back he saw a bit of blood. I freaked out because they told us in the class that after injecting the needle, the plunger should be drawn back slightly to check for blood. If blood is seen, the needle must be removed, replaced, and injection needs to take place again. I told him he was supposed to remove the needle and start over. He got scared but quickly realized that I misunderstood him. He told me he meant he saw blood when he pulled the needle out after injecting the medicine. He was still nervous about the blood until I reminded him that my nurse told me I would bleed with injections due to the aspirin. I even found documentation in the injections manual that said bleeding might occur post-injections. He finally feels better and I think we are ready for bed! Until next time...
